Ensemble

The Ballet Space Ensemble is a group of young dancers ages 10-18 who are dedicated to The Ballet Space and their craft beyond their work in the classroom. This select group of dancers is chosen by the faculty based on their talent, enthusiasm, and dedication. These dancers understand and accept that being a member of this ensemble means a commitment to uphold the highest standards of what being a dancer entails. These dancers should exemplify leadership in our school and community in manner, behavior, and work ethic, in addition to striving to further develop personal talents for their own satisfaction as well as the greater good of the ensemble.

As a member of one of the performing ensembles dancers will have the opportunity to perform at local venues such as charity benefits, school demonstrations, and dance gatherings. Most rehearsals will be on Saturday afternoons. We will try to make rehearsals at times that are convenient with the majority of the company members and our staff.

Dancers are considered for this performing group during the placement classes on August 29th. and then evaluated throughout the year.

Workshops

The Ballet Space will be offering a series of Workshops to provide the dancers with a more well-rounded dance education. These workshops will include Conditioning for Dancers, Modern Study, Yoga, Pilates, Feldenkrais Method and more. Dancers who do not enroll in the Workshops may take them as Drop-In classes for $15 a class. Dancers who are UNLIMITED can always take the Tuesday workshops at no additional charge.

Teaching Assistants/Demonstrators

Being a teaching assistant or demonstrator is a wonderful way to connect with younger dancers, build self-esteem, begin early teacher training and earn community service hours. These are volunteer positions with no tuition reimbursement. Dancers who are teaching assistants or demonstrators for a class in the Young Dancers Program will perform on stage with that class.

A teaching assistant is a dancer in the Pre-Professional level who is not only dedicated to his/her own training, but is also willing to make a commitment to excellence in leadership with a desire to learn how to teach young dancers. These dancers are expected to uphold the teachers classroom standards and assist in directing dancers.

A demonstrator is a dancer in the Young Dancer Program who would like to perfect his/her own technique by participating in a class below their current level. These dancers are physically participating in every aspect of the class. as they are role models for behavior and technique. These dancers are expected to be leaders in their own class well.

Dancers who are interested in this opportunity should contact the Artistic Director with their availability.
